Vienna Ukulele Nights

The Ukulele festival in Europe’s music capital

About our festival

The Vienna Ukulele Night or VUN started as a yearly festival for ukulele players in Vienna with concerts, workshops and open mic sessions. Organized by the legendary local ukulele club “The Flying Ukuleles” the VUN-series took off in 2014 and became an instant success, establishing itself as a highlight of the ukulele scene in Vienna.

As the event grew bigger the organisation team took a break in 2019 to regroup. With fresh ideas and renewed energy the team started the preparations for VUN2020 in September, first time as a two-day-event.

The kickoff event “New Years Open Mic” on January 11th made the message clear (and was a perfect appetizer): Ukulele lovers from around the world playing and listening to music, having fun and enjoying delicious food and drinks.

Meet the Team

The team organizing the festival is of course super important. Attending meetings, exchanging ideas, making lists, scouting locations, concocting gin, posting on facebook, hosting open mics, booking hotels and inviting artists… are just a few of the things that the team already did for VUN2020. Can’t list everything here, so we’ll keep it simple.

Here’s it is (in not particular order) a huge THANK YOU to…

  • Gustav – for always being organized and keeping our ukulele club together
  • Stoffl – for bringing in new ideas and new bands
  • Elisabeth – for being our musical advisor and connecting us with awesone artists
  • Alex – for wonderful videos and delicious food

  • Flo – for his awesome bar-tending skills
  • Andi – for being the most patient sound engineer out there
